Context

Amadeus, a leading international technology company in the travel and tourism sector, was looking to strengthen its social sustainability plan. The objective was to maximise its positive impact on the stakeholders in the travel and tourism ecosystem, identifying opportunities for generating impact aligned with the company's operations and corporate strategy. This development materialised in the identification and implementation of priority initiatives in terms of social sustainability related to the business and operations of Amadeus.
The redefinition of the framework for action in local communities or the strengthening of support for SMEs with social impact are some of these initiatives that have been worked on.

The challenge

With a presence in more than 190 markets, Amadeus faced the challenge of designing a social strategy that reflected its geographical diversity and addressed global social problems in the sector.

The key was to integrate the Amadeus business perspective into the company's social strategy to maximise the impact, helping to strengthen the travel and tourism ecosystem.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

  1. Reinforcement of the social sustainability strategy across the internal and external pillars.
  2. Maximize the company's positive impact on society and employees by finding impact-generating opportunities from the core of the company's operations that link social impact and corporate strategy, internal and external.
  3. Align internal and external social commitments into a structured strategy.

Plan of action

To redefine Amadeus' social sustainability strategy, we followed these steps:

  1. Analysis of Global Social Trends: We identified social trends in the technology and travel sector, assessing risks and opportunities.
  2. Social Benchmarking and Financial Materiality: We analyzed the social approach of competitors and customers, identifying key material issues.
  3. Understanding Stakeholder Challenges: We identified the social challenges of Amadeus' priority stakeholders.
  4. Review of Current Social Strategy: We assessed the internal and external social strategic framework, analyzing ongoing initiatives.
  5. Additional Opportunity Analysis: We define new initiatives to develop the social plan, detailing and planning their execution.
  6. Implementation of Social Action Lines: We develop and implement several lines defined in the social strategy, such as the impact involvement framework in local communities, social impact innovation programs in SMEs, and development of Amadeus' internal and external accessibility ambition.
